KNOTS OF ILLUSION

For how long Mother

    have I been tying knots of illusion

        in this string of endless lifetimes

            creating such an enormous tangled mass

                of egocentric obsessions

Like a child who has fallen in a sticker patch

    and can only cry

    for its mother to pull the thorns from unreachable parts

        I have seen the hopelessness

        of untying these knots with my own hands

I fall at last into your lap

    realizing that only you can release this knotted mess

        with your razor sharp knife of discrimination

Come quickly Mother

    let your wisdom knife find its mark

        shredding this ball of knotted strings

Then burn every fiber and filament

    in the roaring fire of your infinite compassion

        and motherly love
