If we say you have no form
you seem distant and far away
as though our hands and fingers
were clutching at empty air
Yet you are more solid than the Rocky Mountains
closer than a lover's warm embrace
and fuller than the radiance of the morning sun
If we imagine that you are a form - this thing or that thing
we become blinded
as though looking through a long hollow tube
seeing only one thing at a time
and missing your grand totality
All these forms are you
coming and going
like tumbleweeds
that drift endlessly
across the windswept prairie
You are closer than the air that fills our breath
yet these words fall
like leaves from an autumn tree
and utterly fail to clothe your naked being
