Dear Bala,
I find that at this stage of life, death is more in my consciousness than it
was 10 years ago. I lost two members of my extended family this year and it
has really made me feel grateful that I still have my parents and siblings
for a few more years (hopefully). When I think about the two family members
that passed away, I try to think about their personal qualities and the
gifts they gave me. In that way they are ALWAYS with me, for I carry a part
of them with me. I also know how many lives they touched in a positive way,
so that is a comfort.
I remember your shares on this list a year ago and in talking with Lata
last June and at San Rafael, I can see some of what he brought to you - it's
definitely there with her, and I assume the same is true with you. How many
close, close friends like that do we have in a lifetime? Very few, so you
were very lucky to have had that.
My prayers are with you, his wife, his parents and the people in Dallas who
loved him.
Friendships are very important. I realized that during Thanksgiving when we
were in someone's home for bhajans. We are blessed to have a family of
spiritual seekers like this, both at home and online.
